2018 Domaine des Marrans Lieu-Dit ‘Champagne’ Fleurie
A wonderfully light, floral red from Fleurie, a top cru village in the Beaujolais region.
Made from the Gamay grape, the light fruity red wines of Beaujolais in southern Burgundy are well known to most wine drinkers. There are ten named crus located in the northern part of Beaujolais, where the best examples of Beaujolais are made. Wines produced in these crus are allowed to be labeled with the cru from which they hail. Fleurie is recognised as one of the finest crus with its perfumed, silky, moreish style. As its name suggests, this quintessential Beaujolais is fresh, floral, fragrant, and feminine.
Domaine des Marrans has been managed by the Mélinand family since 1970 and is situated in the heart of Fleurie. Its vineyards are spread over 20 hectares.
The Lieu-Dit Champagne Fleurie is made from super juicy Gamay fruit with plenty of blackberry and raspberry character with a beautiful structure giving a surprisingly rich mouthfeel. Violet, iris, and red fruit aromas. An elegant wine with a long finish.
