2019 Trinity Hill Hawkes Bay Syrah
A classic fresh, fruity New Zealand Syrah
Hawkes Bay on the east coast of New Zealand's north island has a similar maritime climate to Bordeaux, France but with more sunshine. Vines were first planted here in 1851 by French Missionaries and now enjoys a significant international reputation for producing some of the country’s best wines, particularly Red Blends and Chardonnay and the Syrah is incredibly impressive. Trinity Hill was founded in 1993, by winemaker John Hancock together with Robert and Robyn Wilson, owners of The Bleeding Heart and The Don in London. Trinity Hill wines show the best of what Hawkes Bay can produce. They have an elegance, balance, drinkability and precision of flavour that makes them a joy to drink.
This Syrah has intense aromas of raspberries, blackberry, liquorice and hints of pepper which combine to produce a complex, fruit-dominant wine. The wine is deliberately released at a very youthful age to maximise the beautiful perfume and fruit freshness.
