2020 Donnafugata `Sul Vulcano` Etna Bianco Carricante
A high-quality white from the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily.
From the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. Warm days and cool nights, combined with volcanic low-vigour soil, ensures wines of great intensity. The Donnafugata `Sul Vulcano` Etna Bianco wines come from high-altitude vineyards at 750 metres above sea level. It is made solely from Carricante, the ancient white wine grape variety thought to have been growing on the volcanic slopes of Mt Etna for at least a thousand years.
This wine is straw yellow/gold in colour. The nose boasts aromas of golden apple and citrus fruit, with subtle notes of Mediterranean herbs and flint. The palate is fresh and savoury, with mineral characters and a long finish.
