2023 Brendan Slater-West Saumur Blanc

Brendan Slater West hails from Oregon, USA, a long way from Saumur. He landed in France as a young man with no notable experience of wine, his only reason for making the trip being his wife; she is French, and when it came to choosing where to live, Paris won over Portland. While teaching English, he became hooked on the great wines of France, and in particular, fell in love with the Chenin Blanc grape.  This led him eventually to a home in Saumur in the heart of the Loire valley.  Brendan joined forces with the esteemed Domaine Guiberteau, which allowed him space to make his own wine using sustainable, small-batch production.

The Brendan Slater-West Saumur Blanc is a precise, crisp and invigorating expression of Chenin Blanc, brimming with pear, peach and apples together with stony mineral nuances, and a touch of honey.  Delicious!
