The Rheingau, a south-facing slab of vineyards on slopes leading down to the Rhine, protected from chill winds by the Taunus mountains to the immediate north, is for many Germany’s noblest wine region. It is here in the Rüdesheim mountains that the Leitz family has been growing grapes since 1744. Their vineyards cover 40 hectares, 36 of them in Rüdesheim and 4 in Geisenheim. Riesling (as an aside always voted the nobliest grape variety by top sommeliers) with its relatively low alcohol, high acidity, steely minerality, stone fruit, citrus, spice and floral notes, is their premier wine.
The Magic Mountain Riesling is from young vines selected from Leitz’s very finest and steepest vineyards. The nose is fresh and pure with lemon zest, exotic fruit and spicy notes. It’s has a delicate body with a slight creaminess and a wonderfully long finish.
