Featured Red Wine for June – 2018 John Duval `Entity` Barossa Valley Shiraz

Published on June 18, 2022

John Duval is one of the world’s best-known winemakers. He is most famous for the 29 years he spent at Penfolds, where from 1986–2002 he was Penfolds’ chief winemaker and the custodian of its great wine, Grange. In 2003 he started his own label, John Duval Wines, and now makes a small number of handcrafted wines at his home in the Barossa Valley in South Australia.

The Winecroft featured red wine for June is the 2018 John Duval `Entity` Barossa Valley Shiraz.  The grapes for the ‘Entity’ Shiraz are sourced from fruit from long-time friends in the Barossa.  Deep ruby in colour with a purple glint. Blackberry and plum aromatics with some savoury spice. On the palate, the Entity is full-bodied and generous, with layers of dark berry fruit and balanced tannins. Very pure and mouth-filling, with ample structure.

This wine is on the winelist at Elystan Street, the Michelin-starred restaurant in London.
