2015 The Story Grampians Shiraz
An delicate and perfumed Shiraz from a great new generation Aussie winemaker
The Story Wines, a name that reflects the fact that each wine has a story, was established in 2004 by Rory Lane, selecting grapes from small, older vineyards in the warm Grampians region of Western Victoria, Australia. In a short time Rory has built a reputation for producing soulful wines that speak of their regions. Grapes are sourced from real vineyards that are tended by real people (as opposed to machines) and which produce fruit of intense flavour and genuine character. Wines are crafted using a minimal intervention model – think no acid adjustments, all wild yeast ferments, open ferments and a general ‘hands-off winemaking’ approach.
The 2015 Grampians Shiraz is beautifully fruited, balanced and structured. It’s alive with red cherries and plums together with woody herbs and floral notes. There’s an edge of smokiness with traces of cracked black peppers. A fresh and lengthy finish.
