From the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. Terrazze Dell’Etna is situated at an altitude between 600 and 900 metres above sea level. This altitude ensures warm days and cool nights, while the volcanic soil is low vigour, ensuring wines of great intensity and a lovely perfume from low-yielding vines. ‘Carusu’, which means ‘young’ in Sicilian dialect, is made from 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Capuccio. Nerello Mascalese is a light-bodied red wine that is only really found on the slopes of Mount Etna. Despite its rarity, the wine offers amazing value and a taste profile that’s often likened to fine Pinot Noir.
This wine has an intense ruby colour with garnet edges. An elegant nose, with delicate perfumes, perfectly combined with ripe red fruit and spice. Round, soft tannins on the palate end with a delicate finish. The Carusu Etna Rosso is the perfect portrait of the site where it is produced.
