The Story Wines, a name that reflects the fact that each wine has a story, was established in 2004 by Rory Lane, selecting grapes from small, older vineyards in the warm Grampians region of Western Victoria, Australia. In a short time Rory has built a reputation for producing soulful wines that speak of their regions.  Grapes are sourced from real vineyards that are tended by real people (as opposed to machines) and which produce fruit of intense flavour and genuine character.  Wines are crafted using a minimal intervention model – think no acid adjustments, all wild yeast ferments, open ferments and a general ‘hands-off winemaking’ approach.

The 2017 Grampians Grenache is abundant in ripe cherries and strawberries.  Hints of tar and roses linger in the background. The palate is rich and savoury, tannins are soft and textural.

How to serve it

Room

Pairs well with

This Grenache pairs perfectly with grilled, stewed and braised meats like beef, veal, pork, chicken and game. Great with burgers.  Goes well with sweeter Moroccan tagines and holds up well to hearty dishes like cassoulet.  It’s also a good match for less spicy styles of Asian cooking.
