2019 Bodega Patritti Lassia Pinot Noir
An elegant pinot from the southern tip of Argentina
Located at 45 degrees latitude south of the equator in the midst of a desert lies Patagonia, arguably one of the world's least obvious places for viticultural success. Despite a cool, dry climate and harsh winds, the region has seen a boom in high-end, quality winemaking in recent years. Located at a lower altitude than Mendoza, the warm days and cold nights here create a perfect climate for the production of elegant wines. Established in 2003, Bodega Patritti planted the first vines in San Patricio del Chanar in Neuquen, Patagonia. The Lassia name is born from the ancient Super-ocean that once covered this part of the globe: Panthalassia. The 110 hectares of vines surround a modern state-of-the-art gravity-fed winery where wines are made precisely and with every care and attention. The Pinot Noir grapes for the Lassia is selected from clones purely Argentine in source and planted in the plots directly encircling the winery.
Bodega Patritti Lassia is a fresh, bright, delicate, and floral Pinot Noir. On the nose there are ripe cherries, strawberries, spices and flowers. Medium-bodied with crisp red fruit flavours, smooth tannins, and savoury vanilla and chocolate on the finish from the oak maturation.
