2019 Maxime Graillot Domaine des Lises Equis Crozes-Hermitage
A great example of the Syrah grape at its elegant best from its home in the Northern Rhone
The Crozes-Hermitage appellation is on the left bank of the northern section of the Rhône in the sunny south of France. Here on pebbly terraces, the Syrah grape expresses itself fully, producing a wine with a spicy black fruit character balanced by elegant, silky tannins.
Maxime Graillot, son of the wine-making doyen of Crozes-Hermitage, Alain Graillot, uses Syrah fruit from organically farmed vineyards near the village of Beaumont-Monteux in the most southeasterly part of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation to produce the Domaine des Lises Equis Crozes-Hermitage. A beautifully elegant Syrah, with well-structured tannins. Strawberry and rich black fruit on the palate, with a silky, spicy finish.
