2020 El Porvenir de Cafayate Munay Torrontés
A premium fruity and aromatic Torrontés, made with love in nothern Argentina
El Porvenir de Cafayate is a small, family-owned winery in Cafayate, the dry mountain desert region in far North-Western Argentina near the city of Salta towards the Uruguayan/Brazilian border. El Porvenir 50 year old vineyards are amongst the highest in the world at 1900m complete with 20-foot, 200 year old monster cacti. Here the extreme diurnal temperature differences – often early mornings see thick frost on the cacti but within a few hours it is 24 degrees - help vines to recover from the heat of the day and grapes to retain balancing acidity enabling fresh, aromatic wines to be produced.
These are perfect growing conditions for Torrontés, the white wine of Argentina. El Porvenir de Cafayate named their premium Torrontés, Munay, the Quechua word for love. Quechua was the language used by the Inca empire, the indigenous people that many years ago ruled Peru, Bolivia and the north of Argentina.
Munay Torrontés is fresh, fruity and juicy, intense and aromatic with floral aromas alongside citrus and stone fruit notes. Crisp and refreshing - a perfect summer wine.
