The region of Alto Adige produce Italy’s most alpine wines. The cool nights, even in the height of summer, enable very focused fruit flavours. Franz Haas is emerging as one of it’s greatest winemakers. He goes to tremendous lengths to grow good grapes and then strives to preserve the flavours of the fruit during winemaking.
This traditional Pinot Grigio wine is pale straw-yellow in colour, with a fragrant floral bouquet with notes of sage, hay, almonds and sandalwood. On the palate, it is fresh and medium-bodied with great finesse and elegance.
Our ongoing quest at Winecroft is to do away with winespeak so we can talk clearly about the wine. One of the ways we achieve this is by using our Wine Style Meter, a key tool to match you with new wines we believe that you’ll love. We do this by matching the style of each wine on our list to your personal taste profile, which is established with the science-based Winecroft taste test and will evolve as you taste new wines.
The needle on the Wine Style Meter points you towards the following wines:
Light: You’re normally sensitive to things in general, such as changes in temperatures and loud noises. You are quite choosy with your wine tastes and have a preference for clean, delicate wines
Medium-bodied: You enjoy a wide variety of tastes, quite flexible with your choice of wines and enjoy delicate whites to full flavoured reds
Full-bodied: In life, you tend to be straightforward and decisive You enjoy intense flavours. A big and bold red wine would typically be your choice on the winelist.
Once you settle the needle on the style of wine you like, our Wine Style Meter is a quick, clear and simple way of gauging whether you’ll like a particular wine from our wonderful winelist.
