2020 Villa Bucci Verdicchio Classico Superiore
A wonderful top quality Italian white from the shores of the Adriatic sea
The Bucci family has been growing grapes in the Marche region of Central Italy, bordering the Adriatic sea, since the 1700s. The current custodian is Ampelio Bucci who has 26 hectares of organically cultivated vineyards focused on the local Verdicchio grape. Verdicchio has been grown in the region for 600 years, it's name is derived from verde, meaning green, referring to the yellowish-green skin of the grape, which gives the wine a subtle, greenish hue. The old vines and low yields at Villa Bucci produce wines of great intensity.
Deep straw yellow in colour, this wine has a layered bouquet with notes of Golden Delicious apples, almonds and Mediterranean herbs. The palate is complex with a juicy, silky texture and good body. A refreshing mineral edge contrasts with the ripe, round flavours of wildflower and honey. A perfect aperitif.
