Maule Valley | Chile

An elegant, lighter, fruity  Chilean Carménère

The Maule Valley was one of the first areas in Chile where vines were planted and its viticulture history stretches back to the start of colonisation.  It lies at the southern end of the Central Valley and is one of the coolest wine-producing areas in Chile, although the Maule River flowing east to west has a moderating effect on the climate.  Viña de Aguirre is a 100% family winery located in the town of Villa Alegre, in the heart of the Maule Valley, producing high-quality, award-winning wines.   Carménère is the home grape.  It originated in Bordeaux but now grows almost only in Chile.  The wine is treasured for its supple red-and-black berry flavours and herbaceous green pepper notes.

This Vina de Aguirre Vinoir Carménère is a modern, elegant, fruity, lighter style Carménère that has had no oak aging.  It is packed with berries and plums with chocolate and pepper notes and that characteristic Carmenere smokiness.  The texture is round and silky and has deliciously long finish.

How to serve it

Room

Pairs well with

Carménère pairs exceptionally well with roast pork and lamb with mint.  Savoury sauces like Chimichurri, green salsas, or pesto will complement the herbal qualities of the wine.
