2023 Berthet-Rayne Vielles Vignes Cairanne
An excellent go-to red wine from the Southern Rhône
The Berthet-Rayne family have been farming here in the village of Cairanne, in the sun-drenched Southern Rhône since 1880, and today the 25 hectare estate is run by André, his wife Marina, and their daughter Alexandra. André is very much committed to a natural approach in the vineyard and the techniques used to adhere to organic and biodynamic practices include the complete rejection of fertiliser and chemicals.
Their excellent Cairanne comes from vines with an average age of 60 years old. An intense ruby red with purple hues, expressive aromas on the nose; fresh raspberry and strawberry with a hint of cocoa. The palate is well balanced and packed with red fruit.
