2024 Quinta de Azevedo Alvarinho Escolha

From Quinta de Azevedo estate vineyards in the Minho region of northern Portugal, this wine is 100% Alvarinho, the celebrity grape of the region.  It grows as well here as in Rias Baixas across the River Minho in Spain as Albarino.  This Alvarinho "Escolha" (meaning selection) has bright aromas of yellow peach, apricot and citrus blossom, evolving into a palate of ripe stone fruit, lemon zest and subtle herbal lift. The texture is fresh yet creamy—thanks in part to French oak and lees ageing—and finishes with a lingering trace of saline minerality.  A refined white of clarity and poise.

Quinta de Azevedo is a historic estate whose vineyards date back centuries and were transformed under the Guedes family after 1982 into a modern operation focused on precision viticulture and estate-grown Alvarinho. With cordon-trained vines, sustainable practices and partial oak maturation, the estate delivers wines of freshness, structure and site-specific character.
