2018 Dewaldt Heyns Shiraz ‘Weathered Hands’
A powerful yet elegant Shiraz from the Cape’s most exciting wine district
The west coast South African district of Swartland now ranks as the Cape's most exciting wine district. Here, one of the most talented South African winemakers, Dewaldt Heyns, has finally achieved his lifelong dream to make wine from his father’s farm in the Paardeberg area of the district with his Weathered Hands wines. "My father’s weathered hands testify to a lifetime of faithful toil among the vineyards of his Swartland farm."
This Weathered Hands Shiraz shows a rare balance of intensity and elegance, with concentrated fruit and characterised by ripe red berries, delicate violet and spice notes with firm tannins and a long finish.
