2020 Plantagenet `Aquitaine` Mount Barker Cabernet Sauvignon
A wonderfully dark and stormy south west Australian Cabernet
In the cool, elevated vineyards of Mount Barker in Western Australia’s Great Southern region, Plantagenet’s Aquitaine Cabernet Sauvignon shows the region’s hallmark purity and restraint. Aromas of blackcurrant, bay leaf and graphite lead into a finely structured palate of dark plum, cassis and cedar, framed by silky tannins and a long, savoury finish. The wine combines depth and freshness, balancing ripe fruit with the gentle herbal lift typical of this cooler coastal climate.
Founded in 1968, Plantagenet was the first commercial winery in the Great Southern and remains a benchmark for elegant Cabernet Sauvignon. Mature vines, careful canopy management and discreet oak ageing produce a Cabernet that captures Mount Barker’s distinctive mix of maritime influence, altitude and understated power—refined, structured and unmistakably Western Australian.
