In the remote, river-carved hills of Galicia in north-west Spain, from steep terraced vineyards in the Quiroga-Bibei subzone of Ribeira Sacra, Dominio do Bibei’s ‘Lalama’ is a field-blend of grapes led by Mencía. It opens with lifted red-berry fruit, wild herbs and floral notes, followed by a fresh, refined palate of cherry, raspberry, subtle spice and a gentle mineral edge. Fine tannins and bright acidity give the wine its trademark tension and elegance.

The name ‘Lalama’ comes from one of the estate’s historic vineyard parcels and reflects Dominio do Bibei’s mission to revive abandoned slopes and traditional local varieties across this dramatic landscape. Founded in 2000, the winery was an early champion of low-intervention viticulture, gravity-flow winemaking and a focus on purity and site transparency.

Ribeira Sacra—“Sacred Banks”—is defined by granite and slate terraces, extreme inclines and the cooling influence of the Atlantic, all of which contribute to low yields and vivid aromatic detail. ‘Lalama’ captures this character with clarity—vibrant, poised and unmistakably Galician.
