2021 Tokara Director’s Reserve White
An award-winning, carefully made, classic white Bordeaux blend with new-world richness.
At the centre of the Cape Winelands lies the Simonsberg mountain, a fynbos-rich massif, home to exceptional vineyards since the 17th century. It’s on the southern slopes, with unrivalled views over False Bay to Table Mountain, that you will find Tokara's vineyards. A paradise destination.
The multi-award winning Tokara Director's Reserve White is a is a zesty blend of 69% Sauvignon Blanc and 31% Sémillon, made from grapes grown on the highest slopes of Tokara’s Stellenbosch property. This is the classic white grape blend synonymous with the Bordeaux region of France but with new-world ripeness of fruit. The grapes work so well together because Sémillon brings body and rounds out Sauvignon Blanc’s tart acidity and herbal notes.
The wine displays a pale straw colour with striking brilliance that catches the light. The nose is complex, with notes of ripe passion fruit and pink grapefruit all intermingled with hints of lemon grass and freshly baked brioche. On the palate the wine is full and rich Aged nine months on the lees in one-third new French oak, the wine has amazing clarity and depth with a zesty persistence.
